Role Overview

This is a hardware engineer position in the Car Audio platform hardware group at HARMAN. The team is responsible for designing and developing digital core, analog circuit, power, and audio amplifier components for car audio platforms and products. The role requires cross-functional collaboration and involves grasping the entire product landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define concepts with stakeholders according to technical specifications and create block diagrams and schematics for amplifiers
  • Schematic concept design, component selection, and Bill of Material generation with cost optimization
  • Conduct simulations, worst-case circuit analysis, design verification, and implement DFMEA and lessons-learned processes
  • Collaborate with PM, Layout, software, mechanical, thermal, test, and operation teams to optimize product design for timing, cost, and quality
  • Board/System level hardware debug and troubleshooting
  • Research and develop new circuit and board-level solutions and POCs for new-generation products
  • Technical support for global RFI/Q and customer projects

Requirements

  • MSEE preferred with 3+ years of relevant industry experience (Bachelor's 5-7 years)
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog hardware design, digital hardware design, and audio circuits
  • Experience with hardware system design, system integration, and high-volume consumer electronics design
  • Experience with schematic capture, layout design, and review
  • Experience with voltage regulators, LDOs, switch mode power supplies, and PMICs
  • Experience in signal integrity and power integrity design and simulation
  • Experience with high-speed and low-speed digital interfaces
  • Experience with bench-level design verification and oscilloscopes
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in the audio industry and familiarity with audio performance testing
  • Simulation tools like Pspice, Hyperlinks, and ADS
  • Strong capability to read and study component technical documentation
