Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Test Development Engineering team at Western Digital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for our precision testing units and automation testing equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed designs, specifications, and tolerances for mechanical systems, including 3D and 2D drawings, BOMs, and assembly manuals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical simulation, testing, electrical, servo, software, and firmware teams, to ensure seamless integration and optimal design.
- Conduct regular design reviews to ensure that designs meet functional, cost, schedule, and DFM requirements.
- Communicate effectively with vendors to ensure timely and precise delivery of parts.
- Prototype assembly, buyoff, debug, evaluation, design improvement, and qualification of mechanical systems.
- Perform product failure analysis and root cause finding through in-depth studies.
- Collaborate with global and local teams on product and equipment development, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Strong knowledge and experience in mechanical design, TSA, heat treatment, materials, mold, and machining, as well as FMEA and mechanical vibration.
- Experience in system development, new product development, automation development, vision system development, or application, with data analysis skills preferred.
- Experience in a workshop environment is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with high flexibility and adaptability under various conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
