About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Shanghai. As a key member of our Utility Computing organization, you will play a vital role in developing and managing cutting-edge cloud services, including Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps.

As part of our AWS Shanghai AI Lab, you will lead innovative projects across various AI domains, leveraging your expertise in machine learning to design and build scalable, efficient solutions for our customers. You will work closely with world-class scientists and engineers globally, collaborating on state-of-the-art research problems and driving business growth through your work.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines, with 5+ years of experience after graduation.
  • A strong track record of publications in top ML conferences/journals, such as NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR.
  • Expertise in building full-stack machine learning solutions from scratch, including training, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language and experience with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Good English written and spoken communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

We welcome candidates with additional qualifications, including:

  • Familiarity with recent advances in computer vision, natural language processing, and multi-modality.
  • Critical thinking and scientific research skills, with a track record of thought leadership and contributions to the field.
  • Experience in engineering production-ready AI/ML systems for large-scale distributed environments.
