Environmental Sustainability Specialist

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank dedicated to supporting the development of sustainable infrastructure in Asia. As a Principal Environmental Specialist - Private Sector and Financial Institutions, you will play a key role in leading the bank's efforts to ensure that its investments are environmentally sustainable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the bank's private sector and financial institutions environmental and social team to support the realization of AIIB's commitment to sustainable development.
- Oversight of the effective implementation of AIIB's environmental and social due diligence during project preparation and implementation.
- Coordinate with other departments on the application of the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) in private sector and financial institutions investment projects.
- Provide strategic leadership to the team and advise on the application of the ESF in AIIB's private sector and financial institutions operations.
- Manage relationships with relevant departments, including operational departments, strategy and policy department, communications department, and others.
- Develop and conduct training on the ESF and associated directives and guidelines for AIIB staff and clients.
- Serve as AIIB focal point for coordination activities with other multilateral development banks and bilateral development organizations on environmental social topics related to private sector and financial institutions operations.
- Serve as AIIB focal point on relations with external stakeholders, including civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations, concerning environmental issues in AIIB's private sector and financial institutions investment operations.
- Support the formulation and implementation of the environmental aspects of AIIB's sector strategies, policies, programs, and projects.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in environmental or natural science, engineering, planning, law, finance, business, or related discipline.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant international experience in environmental planning and risk management.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a proven track record as a manager and/or leader of interdisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with business processes and international good practice in private sector and financial institutions investment operations.
- Sound critical thinking and ability to manage and work in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of languages of countries in which AIIB invests would be an advantage.
