The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled scientist to join our Biochemistry and Cellular Pharmacology group in Lead Discovery at Roche. The successful candidate will be involved in our lead ID efforts, collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and implement novel assays, including biochemical and cell-based assays.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement new assays to support drug discovery.
- Develop and implement biochemical and cell-based assays, conduct HTS, and perform routine assays for compound profiling.
- Interpret results and present within and outside LD.
- Oversee potential partnerships with external resources, including CROs.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts to meet near-term or long-term project goals.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of cutting-edge science in Lead Discovery and upgrade relevant skillsets.
- Maintain an accurate lab notebook and record all necessary information.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment and comply with relevant SOPs.
Requirements
Candidates must have a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology, and experience in assay development, screening, and data analysis. The successful candidate will have excellent instrumentation skills, communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities, plus > 2 years of professional/industrial experience in research or drug discovery/development.
Desirable Skills
- Good understanding of assay development, rich hands-on experience in biochemical and cellular assays.
- Experience in HTS/HCS screening campaign and the associated automation workflow.
- Effective scientific communicator both inside and outside the company.
