Who will you collaborate with?

You will be part of our Engineering team, specializing in designing and delivering modern electronic solutions for transportation sectors, including Global Locomotive, Global Service, and Mining.

How will you contribute?

As a key member of the Engineering division, you will oversee all power solutions for Locomotive and Off Highway Vehicles at Wabtec.

What qualifications are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in power electronics design and development.
  • Proven experience in managing printed circuit designs with various circuit topologies for DC/DC converters, ensuring rugged construction, mechanical integration, and electromagnetic compliance.
  • Strong understanding of operational theory and topology trade-offs based on application, including control, complexity, cost, and design constraints.
  • Extensive design, analysis, and testing experience with isolated converter topologies such as flyback, forward, LLC, full-bridge, and push-pull, ideally including stability considerations.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools like LTspice and analysis software such as Mathcad.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner and/or Altium.
  • Knowledge of transformer and inductor design principles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of circuit and PCB design to meet EMC standards, including expertise in EMC mitigation techniques.
  • Experience in worst-case circuit analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, and reliability assessments.
  • Background in electronic system design for robust environmental performance, including mechanical packaging for vibration and thermal resilience.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills for specification development and cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Experience managing external electronic component suppliers, including vendor project management and problem resolution.

What does a typical day entail?

  • Act as the Power Electronics Technical Leader for all Locomotive and Off Highway Vehicle power solutions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all power supply and board power development and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Oversee the technology vision for product reliability, stability, and lifecycle robustness.
  • Manage the product roadmap to reduce obsolescence risks and ensure top-tier product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee power supply specifications and product lifecycle documentation.
  • Coordinate power supply-related firmware development and collaborate with internal and external resources to define firmware requirements.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams in Controls, Software, and Packaging to establish product requirements and ensure integration and environmental robustness.
  • Manage power supply development testing and validation, production testing requirements, and field test operations.
  • Collaborate with the Sourcing team to define power supply manufacturing processes, manage drawing development, and support electronic product lifecycle needs.
