About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sourcing Specialist to join our team at Michaels. As a key member of our Global Sourcing team, you will be responsible for supporting the execution and improvement of end-to-end best practices in Global Sourcing for assigned product categories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and improve the end-to-end sourcing processes including vendor management, price negotiation, product development, and sample assessment to meet on-time delivery, quality, and commercial KPIs.
  • Source and develop potential vendors, as well as drive a respectful and collaborative vendor relationship with existing vendors to ensure they meet all company requirements, including value, quality, and innovation.
  • Liaise with various parties in sample handling, order management, laboratory testing, packaging artwork creation, and approval processes.
  • Support Request for Proposal, category costing bids, and product development independently in conjunction with the product development and sourcing teams.
  • Assist in product development trips, sourcing trips, and finalization events to ensure smooth arrangements.
  • Execute order management to ensure accuracy of database; monitor and regularly update on project status of assigned product categories.
  • Perform data entry and provide other administrative support in the team; support ad hoc assignments and projects if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Degree/Associate Degree/Diploma holder in Merchandising/Business Management or related discipline.
  • Hands-on computer knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Chinese Word Processing.
  • Minimum 1 year's work experience.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and independent working style.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding but collegial, team-oriented environment.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Mandarin.
  • Up to 15% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic sourcing experience gained from US buying office/retailer is preferable.
