Wärtsilä is seeking an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be part of the Hardware Engineering team, which is responsible for the development of Wärtsilä's integrated Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) products.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The candidate should excel in a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment while the industry and company experience significant growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily manufacturing and sustaining support related to electrical components of Energy Storage and Optimization products, including PLCs, breakers, fuses, relays for DC and AC circuits, connectors, and cables.
  • Offer maintenance support for Energy Storage and Optimization products by reviewing and verifying alternative electrical component sources.
  • Collaborate with vendors and the design team to identify root causes of failures, propose design or component modifications, and implement and validate these changes.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and identify new opportunities for cost savings.
  • Review electrical schematics, single line diagrams, field wiring diagrams, and BOMs in AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Inventor/Vault for energy storage systems, adhering to UL508A and IEC61439-1/2 standards.
  • Identify electrical manufacturing issues and risks to the product team, supporting the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Review engineering change requests generated by Electrical Research and Development.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to the manufacturing floor.
  • Assess vendor capabilities to manufacture products and support ramp-up targets.
  • Review product designs and confirm manufacturability in collaboration with the product development team and factory personnel.
  • Assist in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and contribute to the development and maintenance of FAT procedures related to electrical engineering.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative to develop optimal solutions for product development programs.

Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Over 5 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly with a focus on electrical engineering, troubleshooting, and testing power systems and control panels.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, PLCs, Autodesk Inventor for 2D/3D drawings/models, SAP, Autodesk Vault, PLM Fusion Manage, and PTC Windchill.
  • Ability to create and review electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and field wiring diagrams.
  • Capability to write component specifications and understand manufacturing datasheets.
  • Familiarity with industrial control philosophies and communication protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with customers, peers, subordinates, and vendors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team player attitude.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
