Job Summary

The Research Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Office of Research's research-related functions and activities. This position will be responsible for providing administrative support to faculty and investigators, including pre-award and non-financial post-award support.

Main Responsibilities

Grant Administration (90%):

  • Identify and track funding opportunities, post funding announcements, and maintain a funding opportunity database.
  • Liaise with faculty and investigators to explore and identify opportunities that align with their research interests.
  • Provide assistance to investigators in interpreting grant program guidelines, funding agency regulations, and requirements.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of grant proposals to ensure compliance with agency requirements.
  • Coordinate the institutional review process for grant applications and relevant agreements or documents.
  • Maintain the grants content on the grants website and liaise with colleagues for essential updates.
  • Liaise with post-award colleagues in Finance and relevant departments to assist in award acceptance, set-up, progress checking, and project close-out.

Training, Database, and Reporting (10%):

  • Track the status of grant applications, maintain, and update internal databases.
  • Contribute to generating grants-related reports.
  • Support the organization of grant-related training activities.
  • Maintain currency of knowledge of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Support institutional research-related activities as needed, such as collecting and providing relevant research data, and contributing to generating reports.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • STEM areas preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Prior knowledge or experience in research, research administration, and/or data processing is preferred.
  • International work/study experience is strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to handle multiple assignments and perform against deadlines with competing priorities.
  • Good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and materials.
  • Strong skills in processing, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Strong desk-based research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, etc.
