This Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer II will be based in the DND PH plant, which is a newly set up facility with initial production expected to start in the middle of 2022. The role is part of the global MPDE organization and will involve daily collaboration with product development teams and plant teams on new product launches.
Key Responsibilities- Short-term (1-2 years): Work with the MPDE team in China to launch projects developed by the China team, as well as migrate old products from China plants to the PH plant.
- Long-term (>=2 years): Collaborate with product design teams in China and the US to launch products directly from the PH plant, working closely with the local MPDE team on project management, manufacturing process development, tooling build, and qualification.
This Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer II will be responsible for developing and implementing new connector end-to-end manufacturing processes, ensuring smooth product launches in the plant for mass production, and meeting all project-related KPIs (schedule, cost, investment, quality, delivery, etc.).
Key Accountabilities- Develop and own end-to-end connector manufacturing processes, from raw materials to final assemblies.
- Guide teams to develop the best manufacturable processes and cost-effective solutions.
- Design and develop overall assembly processes and tooling, and conduct process development DOE.
- Lead technical teams and troubleshoot issues from LVM to HVM in process development, tooling design, and qualification.
- Develop and implement platform manufacturing processes.
- Provide detailed process definitions and requirements to automation teams for Auto MC development.
- Challenge product designs for manufacturability and cost feasibility.
- Launch products on time with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and maintain process documentation (DFM, FMEAs, WI, FACA/QCPC, etc.).
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in high-precision connector assembly process development or automation development.
- Data-oriented issue-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Rich shopfloor experience.
- Sensitivity to product cost and ability to drive cost through manufacturing process development and design optimization.
- Fluency in using basic process development tools like DFM, PFMEA, DOE, FAA, CTAR, CAD, and Pro E.
- Knowledge of quality control and quality issue analysis and improvement.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Overseas working experience is a plus.
