We are seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Scientist to join our team at Axalta, a leading global coatings company. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with expertise in polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or material science to contribute to the development of innovative products that protect and enhance customer assets.



Key Responsibilities



  • To develop new powder products according to customer requirements, ensuring efficient communication and obtaining customer approval.
  • Manage and monitor project progress as a project leader, reporting and communicating status to local and global organizations on time.
  • Qualify second sources of raw materials, support product localization, and maintain recipes in TIPS database.
  • Have knowledge to develop products matching customer specs with good workability and efficiency.
  • Understand major customer concerns regarding Axalta products/technology in focused industries.
  • Finding suitable rework routes for distressed inventory or other non-productive inventory.
  • Support line trials of new product launches at customer sites as required.
  • Lead or take active roles in problem-solving customer issues using appropriate methodology.
  • Provide training to lab technicians on new chemistry, application, and test methods.


Requirements



  • A degree in polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, or material science is essential.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the powder industry, preferably with a strong background in R&D.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to seek inputs across organizations, and strong verbal and written command of the English language.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
