About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power System Simulation Lead Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our innovation center, you will be responsible for planning and simulating large-scale multi-energy complementary microgrid systems.

Responsibilities
  • System Planning and Simulation: Develop and optimize microgrid models for actual projects, including power system architecture, power electronic equipment, energy management, and control strategies.
  • Power System Design and Simulation: Design and simulate power systems for Power to X projects under off-grid or restricted grid-connected conditions of renewable energy power generation.
  • Control and Protection Strategies: Design and model control and protection strategies and algorithms for power systems, including FACTs, HVDC, renewable energy power generation integration, and microgrids.
  • Power Quality Simulation and Optimization: Perform power quality simulation analysis and safe operation optimization of new power systems, including steady-state, transient, medium and long-term dynamic, short-circuit current calculation, voltage and frequency stability calculations.
  • Dynamic Behavior Optimization: Optimize the dynamic behavior of high voltage converters, including black-start and network restoration, grid forming controls, and multi-terminal systems, according to customer and national grid code requirements.
  • Sub-Synchronous Torsional/Control Interactions: Analyze sub-synchronous torsional/control interactions and harmonic converter impedance, as well as potential interactions between the converter and other controlled devices in the power system.
  • Simulation Model Development: Develop and validate simulation models for diverse EMT simulation tools, including PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, and EMTP-RV.
  • Customer Training and Support: Provide customer training for simulation models and present study results to customers.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve and standardize simulation models, study procedures, and methods, as well as document results.
  • Project Management Support: Support project management in technical discussions, participate in customer meetings, and coordinate external partners.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree or above in Power Electronics, Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience: 5 years or more of working experience in power electronics, power systems, microgrid simulation, and related fields.
  • Skills: Familiarity with power system power flow calculation, dynamic simulation modeling, and algorithms; knowledge of power system, microgrid-related technologies and standards; proficiency in using MATLAB/PSS/E, BPA/PSASP/EMTP/PSCAD/DIGSILENT, or other power system simulation software.
  • Additional Requirements: Experience in practical engineering design in the fields of power system automation, relay protection, power electronics, new energy power generation, and large-scale microgrids; fluent English and Mandarin language skills.
