About the Role

Cummins Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded Software Developer to join our team. As an Embedded Software Developer, you will be responsible for creating electronic tools that are used to create embedded software, or manufacture and service Cummins products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate electronic tools problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Apply and support the improvement of electronic tools development processes and tools.
  • Process include Electronic Tools Product Line (ETPL) common workflow, 7 step problem solving, application product development (requirements, design, development test, support).
  • Tools include platform specific compilers and toolsets for Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, software lifecycle tools (such as Integrity) and requirements management (Integrity, Doors), configuration/change management.
  • Obtain input and negotiate with product and software development teams and deliver verified software features, components, builds and support to product teams and end users.
  • Make decisions in the areas of software requirements, design, and test that impact local component and feature design.
  • Own problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services with technical complexity and ambiguity increasing as experience is gained in the role.
Requirements
  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Entry level/Early career professional. Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2023, 2024 and 2025 campus candidate will be preferred.
  • Background of Software Engineering / Telecommunications Engineering will be preferred.
  • Background of Automative Engineering / Electrical Engineering will be preferred.
  • Experience of Programing languages (C#, Python, Java, Android, IOS) or PCB hardware will be preferred.
  • Be good at presentation, communication and analytical capability.
