Job Title: System Integration Specialist

This role is responsible for ensuring that the overall, integrated solution meets the business requirements as defined by the customer contract and measured by acceptance testing and the tasks completed successfully.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Defining and leading integration strategy during all stages of the project from Solutions to Execution;
  • Supporting Solutions Development team as required to optimize automation solutions pre-sale and immediately after award of contract;
  • Supporting Functional Design process led by Software (WCS) project manager, including attending all FDS meetings, interpreting and developing customer requirements, and reviewing and approving Functional Design Specification (FDS or SFS) produced by WCS software team;
  • Supporting Simulation team by providing technical advice as well as reviewing and approving the simulation output and report;
  • Creating and specifying system functional design including automation controller interfaces, integration requirements, third party interfaces; this includes documenting all message points, message types, routing strategy, flow control, incorporation of simulation strategies;
  • Ensuring specification and delivery of emulation by others where included in scope;
  • Leading testing of WCS/WMS using simulators and emulation software, in co-ordination with Test Manager if assigned;
  • Delivering a working functional scope to the customer;
  • Leading and coordinating Dematic team to integrate equipment and WCS/WMS software, ensuring full functionality following the agreed test procedures;
  • Completing pre-site interface test between WCS and all subsystems;
  • Leading site wide testing of system (in conjunction with Test Manager, where assigned), including comprehensive documentation of test strategy, test plan, detailed testing specifications and results;
  • Leading customer-witnessed Site Acceptance Testing (in conjunction with Test Manager, where assigned), including managing customer test sign-off;
  • Leading reporting and management of all project issues via JIRA or other tools (in conjunction with Test Manager, where assigned); this includes driving responsible parties to resolve issues in order to complete testing;
  • Producing system availability weightings and either passing to Visualization team for application, or production of appropriate reporting tool if Visualization not provided on project;
  • Providing weekly progress reports to the PM and Head of Systems Integration and immediately escalating any project risks identified and issuing control of documentation as required;
  • Maintaining good relationships with internal and external customers by providing high-quality service;
  • Maintaining Dematic's image as a top quality, professional company by adopting an honest, professional, and attentive approach with customers and Dematic team members;
  • Adhering to Health and Safety standards including, but not limited to Method Statements and Risk Assessments;
  • Liaising with Customer, Project Managers and Project Engineers during project phase;
  • Innovating wherever possible to improve our delivered solution to the end customer (e.g., reduced price, reduced time-scale, improved functionality);
