Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for ensuring that the overall, integrated solution meets the business requirements as defined by the customer contract and measured by acceptance testing and the tasks completed successfully.

Key Tasks
  • Defining and Leading Integration Strategy: Define and lead the integration strategy during all stages of the project from Solutions to Execution.
  • Supporting Solutions Development Team: Support the Solutions Development team as required to optimize automation solutions pre-sale and immediately after award of contract.
  • Supporting Functional Design Process: Support the Functional Design process led by the Software (WCS) project manager, including attending all FDS meetings, interpreting and developing customer requirements, and reviewing and approving the Functional Design Specification (FDS or SFS) produced by the WCS software team.
  • Providing Technical Advice: Provide technical advice to the Simulation team and review and approve the simulation output and report.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Creating System Functional Design: Create and specify system functional design, including automation controller interfaces, integration requirements, third-party interfaces, and documenting all message points, message types, routing strategy, flow control, and incorporation of simulation strategies.
  • Ensuring Emulation Delivery: Ensure the specification and delivery of emulation by others where included in scope.
  • Leading Testing: Lead testing of WCS/WMS using simulators and emulation software, in coordination with the Test Manager if assigned.
  • Delivering Functional Scope: Deliver a working functional scope to the customer.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Leading Dematic Team: Lead and coordinate the Dematic team to integrate equipment and WCS/WMS software, ensuring full functionality following the agreed test procedures.
  • Completing Interface Testing: Complete pre-site interface testing between WCS and all subsystems.
  • Leading Site-Wide Testing: Lead site-wide testing of the system (in conjunction with the Test Manager, where assigned), including comprehensive documentation of test strategy, test plan, detailed testing specifications, and results.
  • Leading Customer-Witnessed Testing: Lead customer-witnessed Site Acceptance Testing (in conjunction with the Test Manager, where assigned), including managing customer test sign-off.
  • Managing Project Issues: Lead the reporting and management of all project issues via JIRA or other tools (in conjunction with the Test Manager, where assigned), including driving responsible parties to resolve issues to complete testing.

Reporting and Communication

  • Producing System Availability Weightings: Produce system availability weightings and either pass them to the Visualization team for application or produce an appropriate reporting tool if Visualization is not provided on the project.
  • Providing Weekly Progress Reports: Provide weekly progress reports to the PM and Head of Systems Integration and immediately escalate any project risks identified and issue control of documentation as required.
  • Maintaining Relationships: Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers by providing high-quality service.
  • Maintaining Dematic's Image: Maintain Dematic's image as a top-quality, professional company by adopting an honest, professional, and attentive approach with customers and Dematic team members.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety Standards: Adhere to Health and Safety standards, including but not limited to Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Liaising with Stakeholders: Liaise with the Customer, Project Managers, and Project Engineers during the project phase.
  • Innovating Solutions: Innovate wherever possible to improve the delivered solution to the end customer (e.g., reduced price, reduced time-scale, improved functionality).
