We are in search of an outstanding, driven scientist who is deeply committed to our purpose and possesses expertise in the identification and validation of innovative therapeutic targets for chronic metabolic conditions.

Utilizing in vitro disease models alongside high-throughput screening and validation techniques, you will be instrumental in exploring the functions of targets and confirming their viability for therapeutic interventions aimed at meeting unmet medical needs. Collaborating across various functions within Novo Nordisk, you will guide the advancement of early proof-of-concept studies for preclinical targets.

Key Responsibilities


• Independently design, refine, and validate in vitro assays related to the central nervous system and metabolic diseases.

• Spearhead collaborative initiatives with both internal and external stakeholders focused on target validation for metabolic disease therapies.

• Manage, sustain, and continuously enhance the infrastructure and workflow for target identification and validation.

• Contribute to global R&D projects and the broader pipeline.

• Establish and nurture partnerships with external collaborators.

• Innovate technologies to address unmet medical challenges.

Required Qualifications


• PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, or related fields with relevant educational or professional experience.

• Profound understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which the CNS influences metabolic processes, including eating behavior, energy expenditure, and glucose and lipid metabolism in T2D and obesity.

• Proven experience in developing monocellular and multicellular 2D or 3D cell cultures, including neurons and microglia.

• Familiarity with gene editing tools, such as CRISPR-Cas9 and RNA interference screens is essential.

• Awareness of current preventative and therapeutic development and clinical testing landscapes for metabolic diseases is highly advantageous.

• Experience in AI/machine learning-driven multi-layer data integration and analysis is a significant plus.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities and a history of implementing impactful changes.

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Capability to network, broaden influence, and achieve success in a global research context.

• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with a high level of self-motivation.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
