KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage closely with experts in our German performance testing laboratory for planning and troubleshooting rig tests.
  • Oversee strategic planning, coordination, and scientific management of mechanical-dynamic testing related to lubricants and technology projects.
  • Generate detailed test reports and technical documentation concerning testing machinery and procedures, optimizing the planning and coordination of necessary mechanical-dynamic tests.
  • Design cost-effective screening test methodologies to enhance formulations based on cross-functional input.
  • Improve technical aspects of test reporting and documentation, including the creation and maintenance of tester manuals and testing methodologies, along with the upkeep and calibration of testing equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory safety and maintain operational oversight of testing facilities within the research environment, adhering to quality management standards.
  • Recruit, train, and assign tasks to laboratory technicians, setting daily priorities and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Plan and procure technical resources for testing procedures, including test components, measurement technology, and evaluation software to uphold modern testing standards.
  • Supervise and carry out field trials, both domestically and internationally.
  • Support customer engagement initiatives, foster cross-functional connections, and participate in industry organizations to promote Evonik's expertise.
  • Create, update, and maintain manuals for testing devices and methodologies, ensuring the upkeep and calibration of testing machines.
  • Provide regular reports as required by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Machinery.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design of testing machinery or machinery testing, with at least 3 years in laboratory management, preferably in the lubricant/additives sector.
  • Hands-on experience and enthusiasm for operating testing machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail, as testing requires meticulous handling.
  • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience in designing and troubleshooting non-standard automated testing equipment.
  • Eagerness to learn new testing methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in oral and written English and/or German.
  • Knowledge of ESHQ, laboratory management, measurement technology, and basic tribology is advantageous.
