Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Merchandising to join our team at VF Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and setting direction for merchandise flow, allocation, and replenishment, as well as advising buyers on the impact of promotions on gross margin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and set direction for merchandise flow, allocation, and replenishment
  • Advise buyers on the impact of promotions on gross margin
  • Work with merchandising and finance to determine budgeting and forecasting needs
  • Provide guidance, advice, and training for direct reports
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Equivalent years of experience in a substantially similar industry may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Generally ten years of progressive experience with three years of managerial experience
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Proficient PC skills
Knowledge and Application

The successful candidate will have expert knowledge in a specialized field and broad knowledge of several related disciplines within a function. They will require broad theoretical knowledge or advanced knowledge of a highly specialized field and their interrelationships.

Problem Solving

The Senior Manager, Merchandising will be able to understand complex issues and their application. They will be able to devise solutions based on limited information and implement them with a longer-term view, taking into consideration multiple perspectives and future implications.

Interaction

The successful candidate will be able to adapt their style and use persuasion in delivering messages. They will be able to develop recommendations to sell ideas or services and frequently advise others on complex matters.

Impact

The Senior Manager, Merchandising will have a medium-term impact on the achievement of goals. They will be required to translate strategic plans into operational plans and guide their execution.

Accountability

The successful candidate will be accountable for meeting short- to medium-term targets which impact the department/discipline. They will provide input into the budgeting process and may be a sub-departmental budget holder. They will be accountable for resourcing decisions and will typically have no exit decision responsibility for professional employees.
