The Senior Project Engineer will provide engineering project leadership for New Product Development and the maintenance of existing products in the category(s). This position will lead new product design and execution by working together with engineering departments of global divisions, suppliers, and external resources while maintaining schedules, ensuring that products meet the design goals to meet the perceived need of the consumer, resolving supplier technical issues, and assisting to improve supplier manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead new product design and execution, working with global project teams to understand and communicate project scope and evaluate design and resource requirements.
- Effectively and appropriately execute and communicate with all levels of the organization and suppliers to ensure assigned projects/tasks are completed as requested.
- Develop and lead the creation of engineering documents, including product specifications, design verification plans, design failure mode and effects analysis, bill of materials, and other relevant documents.
- Establish and manage detailed project execution plans, including tasks, schedules, resource requirements, and other necessary details.
- Conduct regular reviews with project teams and suppliers, monitoring project progress versus planned schedules, and taking appropriate actions to drive successful project delivery on time.
- Drive project development, following defined new product development processes, identifying risks, and creating contingency plans during the execution phase.
- Lead the resolution of manufacturing and design issues by working closely with internal and external parties.
- Support sourcing on cost analysis and negotiation.
- Ensure products have been tested and evaluated for reliability, and that they meet applicable regulations, codes, and standards.
- Drive suppliers to improve design, project development, tooling, evaluation, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support existing product maintenance during its product life cycle.
- Assist Quality Assurance and Reliability Engineering by helping to identify and communicate Critical To Quality requirements and reviewing manufacturing control processes.
- Assist in training new engineers and establishing/refining processes, procedures, best practices, engineering documentation templates, and other relevant materials.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering/Textile Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in consumer products for product design, manufacturing.
- 5+ years of experience in project management.
- Injection mold or sheet metal tooling design or experience with burning appliances is a plus.
