The Machine Design Engineer provides viable solutions to specify, improve, standardize & sustain process equipment used in TE wire & cable manufacturing.  This position interacts within TE by supporting operations, procurement, EH&S, and Engineering. 

Job Requirements
  • •    Maintain OEM partnerships for TE Bulk Cable in order to develop/specify bulk cable equipment.

    •    Research/vet new technology for wire & cable equipment.

    •    Identify critical equipment components Globally available from high quality sources.

    •    Create equipment specifications for bulk cable manufacturing equipment.

    •    Verify documentation/validation for any upgrade/installation of bulk cable equipment & systems.

    •    Ensure all designs/upgrades comply to TE EH&S standards/requirements.

    •    Standardize bulk cable manufacturing equipment (Forward/backward compatibility)

    •    Interact with Manufacturing Process Development Engineering & NPI teams.

    •    Work closely with Controls Engineering.

    •    Support all bulk cable sites (manufacturing and Labs)

    •    Support SAFE Activities

    •    Support ISO Activities

    •    Provide technical assistance for equipment PM across bulk cable plants.

    •    Provide any support for any activities or projects necessary to support the business.
What your background should look like


•    Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electro Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred.

•    Knowledge of machine elements required.

•    5 to 8 years manufacturing equipment design experience required.

•    Proven track record on equipment installations.

•    Experience with wire & cable equipment desired.

•    Travel required up to 25%


•    Capable of managing a high number of tasks at any one time.

•    Able to be self-motivated and respond with little direction.

•    Good communication and presentation skills.

•    Ability to lead with determination to drive projects.

•    Unconventional thinking and creativity a must.
