About The Role
Harman is looking for a skilled Project Manager who can develop our future products for the professional market.

If you are able to manage cross-functional projects from business case to production in a hands-on informal international environment, this might be the right challenge for you.

The project timelines vary from 3 – 24 months, and you will manage 1-4 projects at the time. The total project portfolio for the organization is approx. 50 projects per year.

As project manager in China you will help us becoming stronger and more efficient in our way of developing products inhouse, and together with our external development partners in China.

What You Will Do

• Manage multi-site project team through Phase-Gate new product development(NPD) process. Securing the right documentation for gate passages.
• Planning, executing and monitoring development projects in accordance with the defined product development model.
• Develop Gantt schedules using MS Project. Includes development of a WBS, resource allocations, critical path generation and project tracking.
• Prepare project development budgets including prototypes, samples, outside services, etc. Includes capital plans and Capital Requests.
• Independently manage cross-functional project groups from product concept definition phase to mass production.
• Monitor project progress and develop corrective actions to keep projects on track. Employ negotiating skills to resolve intra and inter team conflicts.
• Develop a responsibility matrix and team charter for communicating program requirements to all team members. Chair team meetings on an on-going basis to obtain project feedback.
• Coordination of development activities in all of Harman's various departments, including R&D, Operation, GPLM and suppliers.
• Ongoing risk management evaluating the risk and taking the necessary actions.
• Updating project status, budget with cost, resources regularly in Workfront with support from the Project Excellence team.
• Reporting to the PMO and presenting to management steering committee meetings.
• Regular on-site visits at our external development partners.

What You Need To Be Successful

• BS or MS in engineering, e.g. mechanical or electrical.
• Min. 5-10 years experience as project manager in development of electronics products in trans-national company.
• Deep understanding of new product development process.
• Preferably with knowledge of audio products.
• Analytical and pro-active decision making.
• Excellent communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in Chinese and English speech and writing.
• Comfortable with fast-paced and multitasking environment.
• Certified project management is preferred.
