The
Director Operations LMS Shanghai
is responsible for Leica Microsystems Shanghai as the site leader and most senior person on site. The position has direct supervisory responsibility for ~50 associates in manufacturing, planning, and industrial engineering. Key performance metrics are safety, quality, on-time delivery, inventory turns, and productivity. The role is leading the China localization effort and introduction of new processes and will work with a cross-functional team to support developing a world-class process and production capability.

This position reports to the VP of Global Operations and is part of the Operations Leadership Team. This is an on-site role located in Shanghai.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Develop and implement manufacturing and operations strategy, driving maximum capacity utilization of the manufacturing units towards achieving the group's strategy, growth and profit objectives.
• Develop and optimize organization to ensure org capability and sufficient talent pipeline.
• Manage and optimize the production processes, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control and organize to react to customer complaint and improve quality externally and internally.
• Drive and strengthen Continuous Improvement Mindset to enable breakthrough in operations to achieve manufacturing excellence.
• Define and control the operations budget to achieve the gross margin of the factory.
• Follow up on new product launches by ensuring pilot run and mass production of the new product smoothly and meeting the requirement set by the business unit and take responsibility for the Product life cycle management.
• Enhance collaboration on product line transfer, capacity expansion, and operations team set-up.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• BS or BA Degree in Business or Engineering required; Master's Degree will be preferred
• 10+ years´ of work experience in heading production units, departments or factories
• Solid experience of production processes and techniques
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Fluency in Chinese and English language

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

• This is an on-site role. Occasional travel may be required to domestic or international LMS/supplier sites, no more than 10%.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience working in a multinational company with reporting line to EMEA/North America.
• Experience in medical device industry.
