Background

Along with DBS's Digital Economy Group development in China, we're going to next chapter for accruing more Sci-Tech companies e.g. technology-based disruptors in every domain. The focus is to bring about life cycle based coverage of startups in various domains e.g. ecommerce, B2B, fintech, edu-tech, fintech, agri/food tech, biotech, advanced manufacture across their life cycle, while identifying them when they are Soonicorns.

The team is supposed to work with RMs across China, to support clients with corporate and investment banking products including capital raise advisory, structured growth debt, ecosystem based engagements, potential IPO and M&A advisory services.

  • The candidate will have to drive coverage of start-ups with support from RMs across Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou and GBA
  • The candidate would also be required to work on deepening engagement with the Venture Capital ecosystem
  • The ideal candidate should be someone well connected to the Sci-Tech Start up ecosystems including VC and entrepreneur-community and be able to generate deal-flow
  • The candidate should ideally be familiar with the Venture and Sci-Tech start up investing space, debt business, including to assess credit risks and structure debt deals
  • The candidate will report into DAG China Head at Shanghai

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand the suite of products and services of the Digital Economy Group (DEG) and the core strategy
  • Liaise effectively and build deep relationships with VC Community, Sci-Tech Start up ecosystems and other investor communities.
  • Identify relationships/ideas to pitch to Soonicorns in line with DEG strategy and support RMs to increase breadth and depth of coverage
  • Work with ECM, SJV and DEG, to increase potential IPO pipeline

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Over 12 years of experience in venture capital, Tech Start up and/or investment bank covering tech space in China/HK;
  • Preference would be to have a mix of IBD and VC/PE experience
  • Relationship with key VCs/PEs focussed on technology investment
  • Ability to operate effectively in an initial environment and implement structure and process as needed.
  • High comfort level with multinational financial services organizations;
  • Relevant educational and professional credentials.
