HR Director, Functions

Reporting to the VP HR, Global Functions, the HR Director Functions APAC plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Goodyear's people agenda across the Global Functions organizations (Finance, Digital/IT, Legal, Communications, Procurement, HR) in the Asia-Pacific geography. This role ensures strong alignment of HR strategies with the Functions' global objectives and long-term organization development goals.
The HR Director is a HR business partner to executive leaders and managers and is responsible for translating business strategies into impactful HR initiatives, driving talent development, ensuring organizational effectiveness, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.
Leveraging data-driven insights and HR expertise, this role aligns human capital strategies with business goals and partners closely with global HR counterparts across Americas and EMEA geographies.
This role will provide coaching and support to senior function leaders (SLT-1) on all talent-related matters, ensuring the execution of HR strategies in close partnership with Regional and Global HR teams.
The role drives HR functional excellence, talent succession planning, and effective collaboration across HR Generalists/HRBPs, COEs and HR hubs and Shared Services.
Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Strategic HR Partnership & Business Alignment
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership of Global Functions in the region, providing proactive HR guidance and tailored solutions to address business needs.
- Collaborate with the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) and senior business leaders to design and implement scalable HR strategies that foster performance, engagement, and a high-performance culture.
- Partner with function leaders to ensure global HR programs and initiatives are effectively executed and aligned with the function objectives.
- Translate business strategies into actionable HR goals, plans, and tactics.
Talent Strategy & Capability Development
- Leverage workforce analytics and business insights to inform strategic people decisions and measure org health.
- Lead talent and capability building across in-scope functions in the region.
- Drive succession planning and leadership pipeline development to secure future talent needs.
- Position the company as an "Employer of Choice" to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
Change Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
- Lead change management initiatives within Function teams to support transformation and growth.
- Provide coaching and guidance to function leaders on leading change effectively and communicating with impact.
- Address key organizational challenges, enhance workforce agility, and drive continuous improvement.
Core HR Process Execution
- Leveraging the HR Generalist pool and COEs, drive the implementation of core HR processes, including Workforce Planning, Talent Management & Acquisition, Learning & Development (L&D), Total Rewards, and Organizational Development/Effectiveness (OD/OE) in the Global Function organizations.
- Develop and execute a "pay for performance" culture, ensuring clear objectives and measurable outcomes within budget guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all HR policies, local labour laws, and ethical standards.
HR Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HR team. Lead by example – demonstrating Goodyear's core values (Exceptional, Relentless, Innovative, Bold, One Team)
- Build strong HR business partnering capability to support business needs and deliver high-quality HR services.
- Foster a collaborative HR culture that drives accountability, development, and continuous learning.
Key Experience
- Minimum 12 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 8 years in HR leadership roles.
- Experience in HR leadership for multiple functions/BUs within a global, matrixed organization.
- Experience partnering with and coaching executive leaders; using data and business insights to influence business outcomes.
- Proven ability to manage HR responsibilities across multiple countries in a complex environment.
- Proven track record in building high-performing teams and leading change initiatives in complex environments.
- Experience working closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, or related field
