S&T Product Development Chemist, Senior

As a Product Development Chemist, you will perform independently or as part of a team to create profitable, patentable or new technical innovations to support our PMC growth in Global especially in Passive Fire Protective (PFP) coatings. You will have a working knowledge of the SBU's business, the SBU's competitors and internal PPG functions that influence the SBU's success. You need the ability to design test and clear reports to fit the market needs, modify the current products to reduce technical problems and provide competitive solutions in short time, takes responsibility for technical communication with global team. You will report to Regional Technical Director. Your working location will be in Kunshan, Jiangsu, China.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop solutions/platform/technology independently for PMC Coatings especially for Passive Fire Protective related products.

• Responsible for the action plans. experimental design (DOE), data analysis, record and report according to PPG required way.

• Use fundamental principles to solve problems and identify root causes using related tools. And develop the novel testing technique and fully utilize the available resource to solve complex problem.

• Participate in the R&D conferences as project champion, present and communicate the updates on projects progress frequently. Both written reports and live presentation are required to be in English.

• Drive excellence in technical reporting, and where applicable, patent filing. Assist supervisor to monitor scientific literature and competitors activities.

• Establish partnership with other global PPG labs across all levels of the team;

• Collaborate with manufacturing / Customer Development team to make flawless introduction of new technologies at the customer line. Lead problem solving efforts during launch.

• Establish trust and respect across the PPG technical community, leverage One PPG to 'search and reapply' technologies developed in other SBU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in the field of Chemistry, polymer, material sciences, chemical engineering or related major.

• 5+ years of working experience of fundamental research, product research or development.

• Must have independent formula development experience at least one of Epoxy, Acrylic, WB;

• Stage-gate product development process knowledge.

• Experience in resin synthesis.

• Expertise in product development, effective with process, methodology and tools (DoE, CTQ, FMEA etc)

• Fluent in English and mandarin, could be independently attend teams calls globally
