Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and the "Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou". In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring "Hub" and "Thrust" to substitute the conventional one characterized by "school" and "department", facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe.

Under the umbrella of the Vice-President (Teaching & Learning) Office (VPTLO), the Institute of Education Innovation and Practice (IEIP) leads in developing innovative transdisciplinary curricula and promoting active learning pedagogy. Additionally, the IEIP is dedicated to advancing scholarship in teaching and learning. It strives to expand HKUST(GZ)'s influence in the global higher education sector by promoting the innovative pedagogy and teaching and learning quality assurance standards developed by HKUST(GZ) through international exchange activities. Furthermore, the IEIP is committed to fostering and promoting a culture that values teaching and learning at HKUST(GZ).

The Department of Education Policy and Evaluation (EPE) under IEIP is responsible for the policy and evaluation matters of IEIP by developing and advising on educational policies, conducting research, and performing teaching and learning evaluations. Additionally, the department is responsible for promoting VPTLO-led information technology projects related to teaching and learning management, supporting the advancement of management efficiency and effectiveness.

To support the development of the VPTLO Teaching & Learning Data Intelligent Platform that aims to achieve centralized storage and efficient sharing of teaching and learning data, the EPE is seeking an Educational Data Analyst to assist in advancing the platform development and the daily work of the VPTLO Teaching Data Governance Committee.

Key Responsibilities

1. Actively participate in the design, development, and optimization of VPTLO's Teaching & Learning Data Intelligence Platform to ensure scalability and performance.
2. Drive the implementation of AI-driven educational tools and analytics within the data platform, enhancing learning outcomes.
3. Manage data pipelines, ensuring efficient data collection, processing, and storage to support platform functionality.
4. Collaborate with faculty members, administrators, students, and other stakeholders to integrate user requirements into the platform.
5. Monitor and maintain data quality, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
6. Perform additional technical tasks as directed by the supervisor.

1. Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
2. Experiences in programming, AI model development, and AI tools.
3. Experience at top-tier IT companies is an asset.
4. Enthusiasm for applying AI in education.
5. Strong sense of accountability, commitment to excellence, and proactive attitude.
6. Exceptional communication skills.

This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
