Job Overview:

As a Customer Solutions Engineer, Illumination at TactoTek, you will play a key role in enabling customers to realize the full potential of IMSE technology in their applications. Acting as the strategic and technical bridge between our customers and TactoTek's multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will support customer adaptation efforts from early ideation through prototyping to production readiness.

You will drive the integration of innovative IMSE-based solutions by combining deep technical understanding of illumination design with a strong customer focus. Your responsibilities include concept creation, executing optical simulations, and contributing to design feasibility—all while ensuring solutions meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturable requirements.

In addition to your engineering and advisory tasks, you have an opportunity to manage customer projects—coordinating internal and external stakeholders, tracking milestones, managing risks, and ensuring successful technical delivery within agreed timelines and scope.

This is a role that blends project management, application engineering, and customer engagement, ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical depth, structured execution, and practical application in real-world customer environments.

Main responsibilities will include:

Serve as the primary technical liaison to customer R&D, design, and manufacturing teams—advising on how IMSE can be adapted to meet specific application goals.

Concept, simulate, and develop integrated lighting solutions using IMSE technology, ensuring optical performance, homogeneity, and manufacturability.

Conduct or support optical simulations (e.g., Speos or LightTools) to validate concepts and provide technical insight during design discussions.

Lead or contribute to prototype development, evaluating feasibility from both a technical and production standpoint.

Collaborate closely with internal experts in optics, electronics, mechanics, and manufacturing to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Support customer workshops, technical reviews, and pre-sales engagements by translating customer requirements into actionable engineering tasks.

We expect you to have:

Degree in Optical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Native Chinese, English is the major working language (fluent in Japanese is a plus but not required).

Experience in illumination or optical design in the automotive sector with exposure to cross-functional project management.

Hands-on experience with optical simulation tools (Speos, LightTools, etc.).

Good understanding of optical theory and its practical applications.

Logical and facts & data-based analysis skills, familiar with DFMEA, PFMEA, Feasibility study processes, particularly for plastic and film-based technologies.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a strong ability to build trust and credibility with customers.

Adaptability and a customer-centric mindset in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Ability to work independently while being a strong team player as well.

Travel

Willingness to travel for up to one month for training in Finland when starting your career at TactoTek, developing a deep understanding of TactoTek's IMSE technology and processes.

Flexibility to travel within China and Asia for client meetings, tech shows, and industry events to represent TactoTek and provide technical support.

Annual travel to Finland, to stay updated with latest development of TactoTek's IMSE technology and processes.
