The Regional Tax Manager role within GSS, North Asia Region, is currently open, and we are actively searching for the right candidate to fill this position within the GSS, North Asia Region. The Regional Tax Manager in North Asia will govern the overall tax matters in Greater China (mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan), Korea and Japan, and will also be the line manager for the corporate specialist in North Asia. The Regional Tax Manager will report to Regional Manager, Finance for North Asia Region. The position is located in Shanghai, China.

Primary responsibilities: 

Responsible for on-time tax filings with high quality by collaborating with local tax advisers and/or chief accountants, including CIT, VAT, WHT etc. Responsible for on-time transfer pricing filings with high quality by collaborating with local tax advisers and/or chief accountants, including local file, master file, CbCR reporting etc. Manage tax audits, queries, desk and field audits together with chief accountants, external supports and/or Group Tax if required. Proactively seek to understand and solve Business Areas’ needs as well as understanding the business operation, business targets and challenges. Advise Business Areas on tax consequences of projects by preparing tax screening analysis on cross-border projects. Maintain relationships with Group Tax and other Regional Tax Managers on complex cross-border project tax screenings. Introduce procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency of preparation and filing of tax returns. Support and ensure that IT systems are in compliance with local tax requirements.  Maintain relationships with the respective Global Process Owners on system and process improvements and contribute when necessary. Manage relationships with external service providers, tax officials and other government bodies if applicable. Monitor rules and regulations and maintain reasonable judgement of the facts and interpretation of the relevant tax rulings, to mitigate tax risk of the Company, to ensure continuous compliance with the policies and processes, and provide training to the internal stakeholders.  Identify opportunities for tax incentives and implement by working with Business Area, GSS Finance, Group Tax and/or external service providers.  Advise Group Finance and GSS Finance on tax accounting for year-end tax reporting or other reporting when needed.  Advise Group Tax / Group M&A team on tax consequences of potential intercompany reorg or external M&A projects. Other ad-hoc tax consulting work on needed basis. Advanced degree in Finance/Accounting/Tax, CICPA/CTA preferred. More than 8 years of tax compliance and advisory experience, ideally in both tax consulting firm and multinational environments. Excellent communication skills and cultural awareness. Positive attitude, self-discipline, integrity, customer centric mind-set and willingness to go the extra mile to meet organizational goals. Ability to set priorities and clear expectations for multiple tasks. Capable of building strong relationships with key stakeholders. Creating an open dialogue with staff, and other stakeholders to ensure free information exchange. Structured and analytical mind-set focused on solution-oriented thinking and taking a pragmatic approach to delivering results. Good Mandarin and English language skills (both oral & written) Experience of operating within customer focused and/or business area finance teams. Gravitas that comes with the experience of dealing with senior business cooperation partners.
