General statement:

We are looking for a Trainee whose responsibility is the software application conceptual design, detailed development, testing and commissioning of the HVDC Control & Protection System – focusing on Automation and Digitization areas.

You will be part of Hitachi Energy Power Systems in Beijing for HVDC business in China and, at the same time, part of the global HVDC engineering team of Hitachi Energy.

Your responsibilities:

You will support to HVDC Control & Protection System conceptual design from software application design perspective. You will be detailed application development of HVDC Control & Protection System dedicated in one of the following areas: Automation and Digitization, Database and Server, Human Machine Interface, Station Control, Supervision and Monitoring, Operating System Localization, HVDC control and Protection. You will be involved in detailed software function implementation with specific software design tools. You will be involved in conceptual design & software design documentation both for internal and external purposes. You will be involved in technical support to the hardware-in-the-loop tests of HVDC Control & Protection System (both in the company and the customer facility) from software perspective. You will be involved in site installation support, commissioning, sub-system test and system test of HVDC Control & Protection System. You will be involved in technical support to Marketing and Sales from software design perspective, especially the support to the tenders. You will be involved in technical support to Customer Service from software design perspective including customer meetings, on-site fault analysis, customer trainings and maintenance outages, etc. Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background:

Master's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, and Automation, or a degree deemed to be equivalent, with basic knowledge. Experience in actual coding for DSP, FPGA, DRTOS (INTime, for example), Windows, Linux or Unix. Experience in PSCAD, Matlab, or any other simulation software available for electric power system and control system. Experience in RTDS, Hypersim, or any other electric power system simulators. Knowledge and/or experiences in HVDC control and protection will be considered as a plus. Knowledge and/or experiences in at least of one of the following areas: Coding: C, C++, Software engineering: Frontend, backend. Experience in communication protocol: IEC61850, OPC-UA, IEC60044-8, FT3, HTML, Web Database: SQL database. Proficiency in written and spoken English language. Acceptance of engineering travels are preferred.
