Role Summary

Facilitates the manufacture of FLSmidth's proprietary products, directs resolution and corrective action of complex manufacturing issues.  Ensures coverage and planning of Inspections by using qualified 3-rd party Inspectors, and the training of these Inspectors Provides technical and manufacturing know-how in developing both existing and new supplier capabilities to meet the unique requirements set forth by FLSmidth and our customers. Engages with Engineering and related disciplines concerning manufacturability of existing or new designs to enhance cost, quality and delivery of final product. Strong cooperation with Project Manager Quality, suppliers and customer quality representatives to ensure conformance of agreed quality requirements. Responsible for delivering products that are fit for intended purpose and meet customer expectations through surveillance visits, ensuring Inspectors witness the Critical stages wherever necessary. Responsible for ensuring that suppliers continue to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to, by using our internal proceduires such as TQ’s and NCR’s. Responsible for Supplier assessments and Sustainability audits as and when required.

Responsibilities/Expectations

Interfaces with and, instructs FLS Quality Inspectors regarding the technical aspects of manufacturing and inspection of FLS equipment. Evaluates, audits and approves sub-suppliers in regards of project requirements Performs regular workshop assessments to check compliance with international quality and HSE requirements Performs/witnesses/supervises in-process and final inspection and testing at supplier's facilities. Interfaces and coordinates with 3rd party inspection and expediting personnel as required. Reviews and evaluates inspection and test reports to verify conformance to applicable construction codes, standards, and specs. Conducts prefabrication- Kickoff meetings when startup of new projects/PO’s to provide technical guidance to FLS suppliers and Quality Inspectors, ensuring the understanding of FLS quality requirements of the purchase order. Collect suggestions from FLS Local Inspectors and suppliers, and coordinates with Project Manager Quality and Engineering to determine if changes are required. Overview of ongoing PO’s, and coordinate Inspections with Regional Quality Engineers and Project Manager Quality accordingly. Confirms measurement devices used to verify manufacture have up to date calibration. Documents identified non-conformances in the NCR system and monitors resolution prior to acceptance.Team player, who reach out for help to Colleagues or Manager when required. Verify and Report Progress to internal stakeholders. Commit to aim to meet or beat the target completion date. Monitor the appointment of labour required Track changes in technical documentation and drawings and verifies additional costs based on these changes Leads the on-site organisation and ensures availability of inspectors and third parties  Witness welder qualification tests as required. (Cannot Certify).  Interacts with engineering regarding technical issues and clarifications.Interacts with procurement (PMP and Logistics) concerning conflicts to the PO.

Qualifications/Competencies

Technical Degree (Bachelor equivalent) or to the equivalent knowledge gained in manufacturing or Quality. Minimum of 8 years of experience beyond degree, 5 or more years of which is direct experience in one or more in relevant areas. Qualification as a Certified Welding Inspector or Engineer is preferred. (CWI, IWI, IWE) Experience in reviewing and confirming results of non-destructive testing in accordance with international standards e.g: ISO 9712/ASNT level II, and holds this certification. Understanding of technical specifications, commercial and financial considerations Ability to understand and review suppliers production planning, and establish recovery plans if needed. Experience in getting results through others and development of effective working relationships both internal and external. Certified or trained in Painting Inspections
