Role Overview

Oversees the production of proprietary products, guiding the resolution and corrective measures for intricate manufacturing challenges. Accountable for delivering products that fulfill their intended purpose and meet client expectations through regular surveillance visits, ensuring inspectors observe critical stages as necessary. Responsible for fostering supplier development and the implementation of best practices focused on defect prevention, variation reduction, and compliance with internal procedures. Conducts supplier evaluations and sustainability audits as required.

Key Responsibilities

Interfaces with and instructs quality inspectors on the technical aspects of manufacturing and inspection processes. Assesses, audits, and approves sub-suppliers in relation to project specifications. Conducts regular workshops to verify compliance with international quality and health, safety, and environmental standards. Performs and supervises in-process and final inspections at supplier facilities, coordinating with third-party inspection personnel as needed. Reviews and assesses inspection and testing reports to ensure compliance with relevant construction codes, standards, and specifications. Leads prefabrication kickoff meetings for new projects to provide technical guidance to suppliers and quality inspectors, ensuring clarity on quality requirements. Gathers feedback from local inspectors and suppliers, collaborating with project quality managers and engineering to determine necessary changes. Monitors ongoing projects and coordinates inspections with regional quality engineers and project quality managers accordingly. Confirms that measurement devices used for verification are properly calibrated. Documents identified non-conformances in the non-conformance report system and oversees resolution prior to acceptance. Reports progress to internal stakeholders, committing to meet or exceed target completion dates. Oversees the allocation of necessary labor resources. Tracks changes in technical documentation and drawings, verifying any additional costs associated with these changes. Leads on-site organization and ensures the availability of inspectors and third-party personnel. Witnesses welder qualification tests as required (certification not included). Engages with engineering on technical issues and clarifications, and interacts with procurement regarding any conflicts related to purchase orders.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in manufacturing or quality. At least 8 years of experience post-degree, with a minimum of 5 years in relevant areas. Certification as a Certified Welding Inspector or Engineer is preferred (CWI, IWI, IWE). Experience in reviewing and validating results of non-destructive testing in accordance with international standards, such as ISO 9712/ASNT level II. Strong understanding of technical specifications, as well as commercial and financial considerations. Ability to comprehend and evaluate supplier production planning, establishing recovery plans when necessary. Proven track record of achieving results through collaboration and building effective working relationships, both internally and externally. Certified or trained in painting inspections.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (25 kg). Sitting required for 20% of the time. Walking or standing required for 80% of the time.
