As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for working with the US, China and other regional teams, closely monitoring and driving packaging engineering initiatives and processes from concept through mass production. You will be an integral part of executing packaging build strategies, including DFM innovation, new product development, execution efficiency, and best practice. You will be a critical escalation path for packaging process issues and work closely with China and US leadership teams to ensure cross-functional collaboration is effective.

Key job responsibilities
-Design, analyze, and document sustainable consumer-facing packaging components and assemblies that delight consumers at the lowest cost of ownership.

-With foundational knowledge of electronic product packaging and automated packaging, understanding the potential and limitations. Collaborating with the Asian automation team and communicating with US packaging engineers to achieve automated packaging.

-Proficient in ISTA testing standards, capable of independently conducting tests and providing judgments and analyses.

-Identifying and development of packaging materials, manufacturing processes and finishes.
-Reviewing and developing DFM process flow and fixtures with contract manufacturers and/or packaging suppliers.

-Supplier design collaboration, providing design feedback and recommendations including but not limited to features, tolerances, etc.

-Participating in engineering studies and providing the risk evaluation to the design team.

-Attending packaging builds, providing reports to the engineering and core team.

-Collaborate with Supplier Quality and support issue resolution at suppliers throughout the development cycle.

-Support Operations team ramp at mass production and sustaining as required.

-Travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as needed to collaborate with staff and keep teams moving.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in the high-volume consumer electronics industry.
- Experience prioritizing concurrent activities and focus to align with business and organization goals.
- Experience working onsite with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Knowledge in the following fields: corrugated and paperboard packaging design, molded pulp packaging design, packaging adhesives, protective films, packaging process and fixture development, paper printing decoration and treatments
- Proven strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking capability
- Enthusiasm for getting “hands on” with your team in collaborative environments
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
