The Job
• The successful candidate will lead China Sensory team, focus on Sensory & Consumer as well to drive ownable, proprietary global trends curation and consumer insights development to ultimately fuel customer value and business impact
• This individual is responsible for leveraging multiples sources of learnings and data to uncover consumer values, beliefs and ultimately motivations which drive behaviors in existing and emerging needs which pose market opportunities for innovation and growth across diverse market segments. Work collaboratively with cross functional partners to identify and respond to market gaps, consumer and customer needs to provide assertive consumer-informed recommendations to best suit customer key innovative initiatives based on oversight of category opportunity mapping and product insights.
Provide inputs on ad hoc requests, strategic planning and key marketing initiatives and support sales through timely communication, targeted insights and presentations to strategic customers, purposeful product demonstrations, and best practice customer engagement experiences.

Your Responsibilities
• Build expertise on product sensory understanding to drive flavor creation, formulation optimization and concept innovation
• Recommend appropriate sensory test methods include discrimination, descriptive, and consumer guidance testing to suit project objectives
• Conduct sensory validation tests to justify flavor and ingredients performance and identify possible product gaps to aid product development
• Utilize computerized sensory software to design sensory methodologies, conduct sensory testing and perform statistical data analysis for reporting
• Monitor sensory panel training and incentive program to motivate sensory panel regularly and maintain precise sensory acuity and taste sensitivity.
• Interact with global sensory team to establish descriptive language, standardized sensory lexicon and expand sensory methodology
• Work closely with market and consumer research team in connecting sensory product information with consumer qualitative and quantitative findings
Mentor and grow team competency in advanced sensory techniques, statistical knowledge and analytical skill sets.

 

Your Profile
• Minimum 8-10 years related to Sensory Research, Product Testing, Panel Development
• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Sensory & Consumer Science, Statistics related field required
• Experience in the Food & Beverage, Specialty ingredients, FMCG, Flavor & Fragrances Industry strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge in sensory panel management to facilitate descriptive testing and lexicon development
• Ability to generate relevant and actionable insights from sensory testing to guide creation
• Proven excellence in statistical skills, including working knowledge of multivariate statistics, non-parametric statistics and experimental design, hypothesis/significance testing
• Proficient in sensory & statistical analysis software
• Strong executional excellence with a highly collaborative mindset to drive shared results
• Great interpersonal bonding skills. Possess strong teamwork and team building skills.
• Strong oral, written, verbal and formal presentation skills. Including customer interaction skills.
• Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills with Pivot Table as a plus
