Job Description:

The Supplier Quality & Food Safety Scientist is the point person for implementation and delivery of M&M'S Retail store Quality & Food Safety Management Program, and the continuous improvement of supplied finished goods across all regional stores. They execute this work via auditing manufacturing processes, internal co-packing processes, and managing non-conformances.  At all points, they are the face of quality and product safety; providing training, coaching, & expertise to internal teams and local suppliers.

What are we looking for?

  • Fluent in English and Chinese
  • BS degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality & food safety role(s).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, GMP’s, food safety, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience conducting quality & food safety internal and/or external audits.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 standard
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Capacity to build relationships internally & externally
  • Ability to adapt and manage effectively in a changing environment
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple initiatives and timelines
  • The Supplier Quality & Food Safety Scientist is expected to be present at the store at least 50% of the time. He/She will cultivate a team attitude, connecting merchandise quality management with the finished saleable good and in-store experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

What will be your key responsibilities?

Q&FS Responsibilities (75%)

  • Manage the M&M'S Retail China-based Quality and Food Safety management and drive continuous improvements (i.e. Quality Plans, CAPA’s, PRIMPs/Non-conformances, quality related training material, Mars Global standards, etc.).
  • Communicate with Store and Co-pack Leadership Teams on product quality, food safety and/or store conditions which may have a negative impact on product and work collaboratively to correct the situation.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and reporting of non-conforming product and ensure its proper disposition and documentation.
  • Develop and implement an internal audit schedule for retail location and evaluate annually for effectives/compliance.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of the store’s Q&FS training program for all retail associates.

Supplier Quality Responsibilities (25%)

  • Conduct warehouse and supplier audits in Chinese language
  • Report audit findings in English & Chinese
  • Develop regional supplier’s capabilities
