About the Role

As the Leader of HW Projects and the development team within the SBU Connectivity, you'll spearhead the realization of automotive telematics systems globally. Your responsibilities will include leading various hardware product development tasks for OEM customer projects, coordinating HW-related activities according to Harman BMS processes, providing guidance for Hardware Development, and ensuring seamless collaboration with internal and external teams essential for product development.

You will also serve as a key liaison for Hardware/Mechanics with the customer, reporting directly to the Leader of Hardware System Domain.

What You Will Do

Position Summary & Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analysis and evaluation of customer requirements and OEM specifications, focusing on HW/SW integration, qualification, and certification for the development of Connectivity-BU ECU Products globally.
  • Lead the development of high-complexity Telematics Control Units aligned with Connectivity roadmap, leveraging cutting-edge technology and cost-efficient approaches.
  • Collaborate globally with various departments including Construction, System Integration, Testing & Validation, and Software.
  • Support industrialization, Qualification, and Certification processes.
  • Strategize resource allocation, project planning, and budgeting from a global perspective.

Profitability

  • Drive cost optimization and VAVE activities to meet HW BOM targets.
  • Participate in customer presentations and negotiations.

Quality & Stability

  • Contribute to HW Gate-Reviews for Telematics Projects globally.
  • Support in deploying and implementing Harman Automotive BMS Design Process.
  • Engage in failure analysis and maintenance support activities.

Technology & Innovation

  • Explore and report new customer features and innovations, aiding in defining new product features and technology strategies.

Team

  • Lead the HW Product Development Group, overseeing HW Project Lead and HW Product Engineering teams.
  • Close collaboration with various Engineering teams and other cross-functional partners.
  • Make decisive planning and prioritization calls for team projects.
  • Organize ongoing education and training initiatives.
  • Facilitate the integration of new team members.
  • Execute special projects as directed by superiors.

Project Management

  • Lead, support, delegate, or guide technical and functional aspects of HW/ME engineering teams across regions and functions for automotive Connectivity projects.
  • Collate, analyze, and prepare project data for reporting to higher management.
  • Manage requirement alignment with OEM customers, business units, and suppliers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team and collaborate with numerous indirect reports on project-based activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • From an ECU product perspective, lead HW/ME Concept & Technology aspects for all platform/customer projects.
  • Keep pace with evolving technology and define new products based on customer and industry trends.
  • Offer support for global business and cross-region collaborations with Engineering Teams.
  • Oversee complete Design & BoM and drive VAVE initiatives.

What You Need

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Over 15 years of experience in HW development for In-vehicle Infotainment systems or automotive ECUs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills with over 10 years of experience.
  • Strong expertise in HW/ME architecture, EMC and RF design.
  • Knowledge of HW/SW interfacing, production technology, mechanical integration, and automotive requirements.
  • Structured, goal-oriented work ethic and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Beneficial Qualifications

  • Good understanding of business processes.
  • Negotiation skills and experience in requirements management tools like DOORS, ALMs, JIRA.
