Job Title: Application Engineer II (m/f/d)

Summary / Role Purpose

Join the LS-DYNA Customer Success team to assist clients in addressing intricate engineering challenges with LS-DYNA. The primary focus lies in aiding corporate clientele in the automotive sector for tasks such as crashworthiness and safety assessments for occupants and pedestrians. Leveraging your engineering expertise, you will offer technical pre- and post-sales support, address a diverse range of technical hurdles, and relay customer feedback to enhance Ansys products. You will be part of a vibrant team of dedicated engineers committed to delivering top-notch solutions to our clients, enriching your knowledge, expertise, and influence on both our clients and Ansys success.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leverage engineering knowledge and simulation techniques to provide top-tier technical support to LS-DYNA users in the automotive sector.
  • Follow support protocols to guarantee high-quality, prompt customer service, fostering client contentment.
  • Recommend product enhancements as necessary.
  • Enhance Ansys software by sharing bug reports and enhancement requests.
  • Conduct quality assurance and field testing of new features and bug fixes to ensure that new software versions and workflows meet customer needs.
  • Occasionally support Sales and Marketing by hosting demos, webinars, online training, and other events.
  • Assist customers with LS-DYNA and Ansys simulations.
  • Become proficient in one or more application domains.
  • Acquire knowledge of new LS-DYNA and Ansys features to support new releases.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Hold a Master's degree in engineering along with 3 years of experience or a PhD in engineering with 1 year of experience.
  • Proficiency in LS-DYNA, Ansys, or other structural CAE software (Abaqus, Radioss, Nastran, OptiStruct, Pam-Crash, etc.).
  • Solid foundation in structural mechanics and the Finite Element method.
  • Demonstrate logical problem-solving skills and possess strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
  • Strong organizational and time management proficiencies; exhibit a sense of urgency.
  • Portray a professional image, demonstrate business insight, and show determination for success.
  • Capable of periodic domestic travel of up to 20%.
  • Enthusiastic about assisting others, empathetic, and customer-focused.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Hold a Master's degree in engineering coupled with 4 years of relevant experience or a PhD in engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in crashworthiness, impact, drop test, and forming utilizing explicit dynamic software.
  • Experience in resolving industrial issues with LS-DYNA explicit and implicit.
  • Familiarity with pre-processing tools like ANSA or Hypermesh.
  • Knowledge of Ansys Workbench, LS-PrePost, and LS-RUN.
  • Experience with non-linear and rate-sensitive materials (foams, plastics, rubbers, etc.).
  • Proficiency in metal plasticity and failure, hyper-elasticity, and composite materials.
  • Basic programming and scripting skills, such as Perl and bash.
