Job Title: Application Engineer II (m/f/d)

Summary / Role Purpose

Join the LS-DYNA Customer Success team to assist customers in tackling intricate engineering challenges with LS-DYNA. The main focus lies in supporting corporate clients in the automotive sector for tasks such as crashworthiness, occupant protection, and pedestrian safety analysis. Leveraging your engineering expertise, you will deliver technical pre- and post-sales support, address a wide range of technical hurdles, and relay customer feedback to enhance Ansys products. You will be part of a lively team of devoted engineers dedicated to providing top-notch solutions to our clientele, boosting your knowledge, experience, and your influence on the success of both customers and Ansys.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize engineering knowledge and simulation techniques to provide top-tier technical support for LS-DYNA users in the automotive field.
  • Follow support protocols to ensure high-quality, timely customer service leading to customer contentment.
  • Offer recommendations for product enhancements when necessary.
  • Enhance Ansys software by reporting bugs and proposing improvements.
  • Conduct quality assurance and field testing of new features and bug fixes to confirm that upcoming software releases and workflows meet customer needs.
  • Occasionally assist Sales and Marketing by organizing demos, webinars, online training, and similar sessions.
  • Support customers with LS-DYNA and Ansys simulations.
  • Become a specialist in one or more application areas.
  • Stay updated on new LS-DYNA and Ansys features to support new releases.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Master's in engineering plus 3 years of experience or a PhD in engineering plus 1 year of experience.
  • Familiarity with LS-DYNA, Ansys, or other structural CAE software (Abaqus, Radioss, Nastran, OptiStruct, Pam-Crash, etc.).
  • Solid foundations in structural mechanics and the Finite Element method.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal/communication abilities.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
  • Robust organizational and time management skills; a sense of promptness is crucial.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and business acumen; determined to achieve success.
  • Capable of domestic travel of up to 20%.
  • Enjoys assisting others, empathetic, and customer-centric.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Master's in engineering plus 4 years of related experience or a PhD in engineering plus 2 years of related experience.
  • Expertise in crashworthiness, impact, drop test, and forming using explicit dynamic software.
  • Experience in resolving industrial issues with LS-DYNA explicit and implicit methodologies.
  • Familiarity with pre-processing tools like ANSA or Hypermesh.
  • Knowledge of Ansys Workbench, LS-PrePost, and LS-RUN.
  • Experience with non-linear and rate-sensitive materials (e.g., foams, plastics, rubbers).
  • Understanding of metal plasticity and failure, hyper-elasticity, and composite materials.
  • Basic programming and scripting skills, such as Python, Perl, bash.
