Job Title: Application Engineer II (m/f/d)

Summary / Role Purpose

Be part of the LS-DYNA Customer Success crew assisting clients in tackling complex engineering challenges using LS-DYNA. The main focus is on aiding enterprise clients in the automotive sector with tasks like crashworthiness, occupant and pedestrian safety analysis. This role involves leveraging your engineering expertise to offer technical support before and after sales, solving a wide range of technical issues, and communicating customer feedback to enhance Ansys products. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize your engineering knowledge and simulation techniques to provide top-tier technical support to LS-DYNA users in the automotive industry.
  • Follow support processes to ensure high-quality, prompt customer service that leads to customer gratification.
  • Suggest product enhancements when necessary.
  • Enhance Ansys software by reporting bugs and requesting improvements.
  • Conduct quality assurance and field tests on new features and bug fixes to ensure upcoming software releases and workflows meet customer needs.
  • Occasionally support Sales and Marketing by hosting demos, webinars, online training sessions, and other events.
  • Assist customers with LS-DYNA and Ansys simulations.
  • Become proficient in one or more application areas.
  • Stay updated on new LS-DYNA and Ansys features to support new releases.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Hold a Master's degree in engineering plus 3 years of experience or a PhD in engineering plus 1 year of experience.
  • Familiarity with LS-DYNA, Ansys, or other structural CAE software (Abaqus, Radioss, Nastran, OptiStruct, Pam-Crash, etc.).
  • Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics and the Finite Element method.
  • Logical problem-solving and effective interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
  • Solid organizational and time management abilities; possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Projects a professional demeanor and demonstrates business acumen; determined to succeed.
  • Capable of domestic travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Enjoys assisting others, empathetic and customer-focused.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Hold a Master's degree in engineering with 4 years of relevant experience or a PhD in engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in crashworthiness, impact, drop test, and forming with explicit dynamic software.
  • Hands-on experience addressing industrial problems with LS-DYNA explicit and implicit.
  • Experience with pre-processing tools like ANSA or Hypermesh.
  • Familiarity with Ansys Workbench, LS-PrePost, and LS-RUN.
  • Experience working with non-linear and rate-sensitive materials (foams, plastics, rubbers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of metal plasticity and failure, hyper-elasticity, and composite materials.
  • Basic programming and scripting skills, e.g., with Python, Perl, Bash.
