RINA is looking for a China Plan Approval Engineer to join the team in Shanghai, China as part of the Marine Asia Region Division.

Overall Purpose

The main focus of this role involves supporting the detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues arising from conflicting design requirements, and ensuring client needs and applicable standards are met.

Tasks may include approving new building projects, conversions, and existing vessels and yachts.

Main Responsibilities
  • Review and approve ship, offshore unit, and marine equipment drawings, ensuring compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations for new constructions, operating vessels, and ship conversions.
  • Assist clients during the design and construction stages, offering guidance on structural design.
  • Support the detailed marine engineering plan review, following RINA rules, international conventions, and contractual demands.
  • Address issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards.
  • Provide direct oversight of project elements, including on-site visits for measurements.
  • Support engineers or teams with data collection, documentation submission, and daily tasks.
  • Prepare project deliverables such as technical reports and engineering drawings.
  • Take responsibility for the financial progress of assigned tasks.
  • Apply project management concepts, offering feedback to project managers and escalating issues if necessary.
  • Manage simple projects using project management techniques.
  • Assess minor structural problems, providing solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering and construction teams, answering contractor queries.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and the ability to apply it practically.
