The Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in the hotel's financial management, reporting directly to the Corporate Finance Department and serving as a member of the hotel's Executive Committee. This dual role requires the Financial Controller to balance functional responsibilities with daily hotel operations and administration.
Key Responsibilities- Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all contracts and legal agreements, including management agreements.
- Review and approve contracts and legal agreements in conjunction with the General Manager.
- Maintain a list of licenses and permits and ensure timely renewal.
- Reporting and Budgeting
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for Corporate Office and hotel management.
- Investigate business trends and deviations from budget and last year's performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Control and Audit
- Develop and maintain sound internal control systems to protect the hotel's interests.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of internal controls to ensure compliance.
- Capital Projects
- Ensure all capital expenditures align with established spending guidelines and approved budgets.
- Prepare financial projections and justifications for assessment by Corporate Office and owner.
- Staffing
- Recruit, terminate, and manage employment status for staff within the Finance Department.
- Develop and maintain accurate job descriptions for Finance Department staff.
- Meetings
- Participate in hotel operational meetings, including daily morning briefings, Executive Committee meetings, and credit meetings.
- Education
- College degree in Finance or related field.
- Experience
- At least 5 years of experience as Assistant Financial Controller or higher in the hospitality industry.
- Skills and Knowledge
- Accounting qualification and knowledge of MS Office software.
- Good command of communication in English.
