Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Global Supply Chain Operations Specialist to join our team at Corning. This role will be responsible for supporting the S&OP process by analyzing demand, supply, capacity, and inventory data to make capacity recommendations and identify risks and gaps for external manufactured products.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in supply chain planning and execution, with experience in working with external manufacturers, managing inventory, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. They will also have excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze demand, supply, capacity, and inventory data to make capacity recommendations and identify risks and gaps for external manufactured products.
  • Monitor external manufacturing production and support capacity analysis of external manufacturers, collaborating with engineering as needed.
  • Release purchasing requisitions in QAD, PeopleSoft, and manage POs.
  • Communicate effectively with external manufacturers to establish production and delivery requirements and schedules.
  • Coordinate schedules with customer service, suppliers, receiving, external manufacturing, and shipping teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Provide lead time quotations for new orders and make sales order commitments; provide responses for past due shipments.
  • Review and manage external manufacturers' commitments and order promise dates; conduct periodic 'open order status' review meetings.
  • Assist in developing and executing inventory strategies for consignment material and finished goods; analyze excess and obsolete component inventory provided by external manufacturers.
  • Responsible for prioritizing returned defect material rework and managing returned defect material inventory, including identifying at-risk shippable stock for containment.
  • Coordinate with EMs and forwarders on shipping booking, coordinate with brokers for customs clearance document collection.
  • Collect invoices from EMs and service providers, check, and apply for payment.
  • Requisition products and place firm orders on external manufacturers and 3rd party vendors.
  • Purchase MRO items.
  • Maintain SOX compliance for inventory management and planning.
  • Follow up and maintain key metrics, performance, and reports based on collected data.
  • Comply with international trade regulations, as directed by GSM.
  • Continual improvement on EMs' performance by initiating good ideas.
  • Planning, sourcing, and operation support for new projects for APAC EM teams.
  • Hyper-care for tariffs happened in the US, help to collect the right documents for Customs Clearance, introducing our flow to EMs, understand what happened, and address the issue until implementation of solutions.
  • Insure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within Corning guidelines.
  • Tracks, communicates, and supports key metrics to achieve team goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, computer science, Japanese, purchasing management, or relevant field of study, MBA is preferred.
  • At least 2 years' experience at planning, demand planning, and project management is a plus.
  • Sourcing experience is a plus.
  • Working in MNC is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Fluent English speaking/writing is a must, good Japanese speaking is a plus.
  • Good project management skill.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, passion for process improvement, systems, and data handling.
  • Working experience in ERP systems, SAP, or other systems.
  • High sense of responsibility and initiatives, self-motivated, good team player, and the ability to work with a wide cross-section of people in various locations.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasked, high-energy environment.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones in multiple languages, flexibility to balance working time between US calendar and Chinese calendar.

Soft Skills

  • Good communication and negotiation skill.
  • Good understanding of culture differences between different countries.
