Job Overview Acts as a technical authority or in a supervisory capacity. Under general supervision, innovates and implements sophisticated engineering methodologies, concepts, and strategies to tackle intricate engineering challenges. May offer technical leadership to a team or oversee engineering personnel on projects of moderate complexity. Responsible for generating, validating, and delivering specialized technical outputs. Core Responsibilities

Engineering Standards:

  • Provides oversight and direction on departmental design guidelines, standards, systems, relevant engineering codes, and company policies
  • Aids in the development, maintenance, and revision of engineering standards
  • Offers technical support to colleagues regarding projects and disciplines

Quality Assurance / Continuous Improvement:

  • Independently applies expertise and adheres to the quality program relevant to assigned tasks
  • May be accountable for ensuring adherence to the quality program
  • Provides guidance and direction to team members
  • Supports initiatives for continuous improvement and change management

Engineering Deliverables:

  • Prepares a range of intricate engineering outputs for larger or multiple projects
  • Conducts thorough research and formulates recommendations for equipment and/or material selection
  • Oversees the collection, organization, and management of data for engineering tasks
  • Executes complex engineering calculations following established methods and principles
  • Manages assigned budgets, timelines, and quality standards
  • Independently employs advanced engineering techniques and analytical methods
  • Reviews the work of junior engineers or assignments
  • Responsible for leading larger production teams, coordinating multidisciplinary activities, and serving as the project lead

Project Coordination:

  • Actively collaborates with all internal and external team members on moderately complex projects

Client Engagement:

  • Responsible for identifying key client interests and drivers on moderately complex projects and may determine key clients in some instances
  • Communicates client interests and drivers to project teams and develops strategies to address these concerns in project execution
  • May propose additional services to clients
  • Typically supports business development or pursuit initiatives

Knowledge Sharing, Innovation, and Technology:

  • Serves as a technical expert and possesses the knowledge and skills to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in a specific practice area
  • Typically supports multiple projects facing complex technical challenges
  • Actively promotes knowledge management and provides mentorship
  • Develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and solutions to unique engineering challenges

People Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring):

  • Typically assists with performance management processes, mentoring, recognition, and any necessary corrective actions
  • May engage in career planning, learning, and development initiatives

Resource Management - (budgets, tools, processes, project support):

  • Implements resource management strategies
  • Manages engineering resources for small teams within a single discipline

Administrative Duties:

  • Administrative responsibilities may encompass office management
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively implemented and communicated within the workgroup
  • Ensures compliance with corporate and division programs
  • May approve timesheets and expense reports
Management Responsibilities Preferred Qualifications Proficient in Written Communication, Results Orientation, Priority Setting, Planning, Delegation, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Information Sharing, Active Listening, Navigating Ambiguity, and Team Building Advanced understanding of engineering design principles and relevant design guidelines and standards related to the assigned engineering discipline Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program. A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience is necessary. All candidates must be able to fulfill pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected), which may include background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records review, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Certifications Most positions will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country or be actively pursuing such registration.
