About the Role

HSBC Life Insurance Company Limited is a leading provider of insurance solutions in Asia, with a strong presence in Shanghai. As a Data Privacy and Risk Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with data protection regulations and safeguarding its reputation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inform and advise the business and employees on their data privacy and protection obligations;
  • Provide expert guidance, oversight, and challenge on all aspects of data protection and privacy risk strategy and compliance;
  • Monitor compliance with data privacy provisions and HSBC Group policies relating to personal data protection;
  • Review and advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and monitor performance of mitigations;
  • Cooperate with regulatory authorities;
  • Act as the contact point internally and externally with data subjects and regulatory authorities;
Requirements
  • Adapt work style to meet complex and varied workloads;
  • Maintain knowledge of HSBC Group operations and policies;
  • Engender support of senior executives, some of whom have competing priorities;
  • Think independently and provide advice that balances management and mitigation of data privacy risk, business efficacy, and potential risks and impacts for data subjects;
  • See the bigger picture and understand interrelationships between complex issues and their impact from a regulatory, financial, and reputational perspective;
  • Adapt communication style and content to address management-level audiences;
  • Distil and communicate complex ideas in an understandable manner to assist the business in making difficult decisions;
  • Be seen as a role model by business stakeholders and colleagues, leading by example.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, based on experience and location.
