Job Overview

At TE Connectivity, we are seeking a highly skilled Staff R&D Product Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Data and Devices Business Unit, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative socket, high-speed connector, and cable assembly solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop new products from market definition through production and release, working closely with customers, vendors, marketing, and sales personnel.
  • Conceive original ideas for new products/solutions and develop them into practical and economical models.
  • Determine specifications, perform engineering analysis, make preliminary sketches and designs, and coordinate support operations.
  • Interact with customers, vendors, marketing, and sales personnel during the pre-production stages of new products.
  • Responsible for product development, including design, documentation, and testing.
  • Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and outside suppliers to meet all technical, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Execute technical documentation to fully detail design drawings and requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of relevant mechanical engineering work experience with electrical components, electrical devices, mechanical structure design, manufacturing tooling development, or manufacturing process development.
  • Knowledge in socket design, connector design, or other relevant mechanical design and development.
  • Expert in 3D Design Applications (such as Creo, Spaceclaim, etc.).
  • Proficient in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and finite element analysis software (Ansys, Workbench).
  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written) to facilitate global communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Working knowledge in raw material, industry standard, and product application.
  • Proficient use of quality tools (FMEA, 6 sigma, DOE, 8D, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of contact physics, communication theory, and test methods for electrical connectors.
