Role Overview:

NVIDIA is seeking experienced Speech Data Scientists to contribute to the development of our impactful Speech AI product, "Riva," enhancing the experiences of millions of users. If you possess creativity and a passion for addressing real-world challenges in conversational AI, we invite you to join our Riva Product engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train models for Speech Recognition (including Acoustic, Language, and Punctuation), Speech-to-text translation (AST), and Speech-to-speech (S2S) translation.
  • Develop and maintain essential speech processing components and tools (such as alignment, segmentation, normalization, etc.).
  • Enhance methodologies for speech data processing, augmentation, filtering, and preparation of training datasets.
  • Evaluate and benchmark model performance.
  • Gather insights on speech datasets for training and evaluation purposes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new product features and refine existing offerings.
  • Drive innovation, identify challenges, propose solutions, and conduct triage within a collaborative team environment.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent experience) or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or Applied Mathematics with over 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient programming skills in Python, with a solid foundation in programming, optimization, and software design.
  • Hands-on experience with Speech Technologies, including Automatic Speech Recognition, Speech Command detection, Text to Speech, Speaker Recognition and Identification, speaker diarization, Noise robustness Techniques, Voice activity detection, and End of utterance detection.
  • Strong understanding of RNN-T, CTC, and transformer decoders.
  • In-depth knowledge of ML/DL techniques, algorithms, and tools, with familiarity in CNN, RNN (LSTM), and Transformers.
  • Expertise in applying Deep Learning to Speech and NLP.
  • Experience leading teams or initiatives focused on developing Speech AI products.
  • Familiarity with basic speech digital signal processing and feature extraction techniques such as FFT, MFCC, and Mel Spectrogram.
  • General knowledge of version control and code review tools like Git, Gerrit, and Gitlab.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a proven ability to effectively guide and influence within a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing comprehensive speech recognition and translation systems across multiple languages.
  • Strong C++ programming skills.
  • Familiarity with GPU technologies such as CUDA, CuDNN, and TensorRT.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Background in deploying machine learning models across data centers, cloud environments, and embedded systems.
