Role Overview

The Field Service Engineering Specialist (FSES) serves as a vital link between our digital products and automation engineering team and our customers. This role involves executing a variety of engineering and service tasks at client facilities. Responsibilities include utilizing diagnostic capabilities for troubleshooting, conducting analyses, and addressing compatibility issues between Flowserve's digital products and customer control systems (DCS, SIS, PLC). A strong background in instrument performance and connectivity is essential, including familiarity with communication protocols prevalent in the process control industry (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus, etc.).

The FSES will also be responsible for training end users and Flowserve support personnel to minimize user errors and prevent escalation of issues within customer organizations. When legitimate problems arise, the FSES will gather relevant data and communicate it effectively to the engineering and manufacturing teams for prompt resolution. This role is crucial for customer turnaround planning and execution, representing the highest level of field expertise on digital products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a positive safety culture to minimize injuries and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Uphold ethical standards in accordance with Flowserve's code of conduct.
  • Act as a key extension of the digital product and automation engineering team, engaging directly with customers.
  • Educate customers on the proper installation and operation of Flowserve digital products to prevent misunderstandings.
  • Efficiently troubleshoot and resolve digital product issues in the field, collaborating with regional labs and global engineering teams as necessary.
  • Support sales efforts through customer and sales channel training.
  • Work within the digital products community to enhance local capabilities for addressing technical problems.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface for digital products, overseeing installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support and training for Flowserve's digital products and related software.
  • Build relationships with key customers to understand their needs and identify opportunities for added value.
  • Collaborate with field technicians and engineering teams to resolve field issues.
  • Travel to customer locations for troubleshooting and repair of Flowserve products.
  • Work alongside customers and third-party personnel as required.
  • Coordinate with Flowserve Sales Engineers to ensure a unified approach to customer service.
  • Utilize valve diagnostic systems for predictive and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation.
  • Identify Flowserve equipment and services that may require technical attention.
  • Complete daily Job Safety Environmental Assessments (JSEA).

Qualifications:

  • MS or BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related engineering field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in technical problem-solving with systems and networks (DCS, SIS, AMS).
  • Fluency in English communication, both verbal and written.
  • Strong understanding of fluid flow in process control environments.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and articulate customer value.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of instrumentation and process control.
  • Familiarity with digital communications protocols (HART, FF, Modbus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of major DCS and Asset Management Systems.
  • Experience with demonstration equipment.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently.
  • Ability to lead and support engineers and technicians.
  • Calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of technical designs and engineering schematics.
  • Familiarity with safety systems and Partial Stroke Testing.
  • Understanding of main valve competitors and digital positioner technologies.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
