About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled User Experience Researcher Lead to join our team at Riot Games. As a key member of our user research organization, you will drive user research efforts on game teams in partnership with production and design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership on high complexity, ambiguous problem spaces to help direct the experience of our new games, systems, and features
  • Contribution at the China studio level on strategy and operations as part of the China studio insight team
  • Design and execution of labs, studies, and surveys - sometimes with novel or complex methodologies - designed to answer business, design, development, and usability questions
  • Clear presentation of results to game and China studio leadership, driving meaningful change
  • Mentorship of other researchers, sharing knowledge and expertise

Requirements:

  • Educational background in one of the following categories: Psychology, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or a related discipline
  • Advanced degree plus 2 years of relevant research experience in game development, or Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of relevant research experience
  • Experience running playtests and usability tests in various paradigms
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Familiarity with qualitative methods and analysis, data synthesis, and presentation
  • Experience designing and performing basic survey research

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting games user research during the early stages of the development life cycle
  • Familiarity with audience research and basic statistical methods for data analysis
  • Experience leading complex projects and managing vendors
  • Fluency in Chinese and English, with ability to promote collaboration across languages and cultures

About the Salary:

The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000-$180,000, depending on location and experience.
