Trade Compliance Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our global trade compliance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across international borders.
About the Role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to local, national, and international regulations;
- Stay up-to-date with changes in trade regulations and communicate any updates or changes to relevant stakeholders within the organization;
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential compliance issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, logistics, and procurement, to ensure compliance throughout the supply chain;
- Provide guidance and training to employees on trade compliance matters, including import and export regulations, restricted parties, and customs requirements;
- Lead import and export documentation, including classification, licensing, and record-keeping;
- Coordinate with external partners, such as customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies, to ensure smooth and compliant movement of goods;
- Handle any trade compliance violations or incidents, conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Requirements:
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field; a master's degree is highly desirable;
- Demonstrated ability in trade compliance, customs, or international logistics;
- In-depth knowledge of global trade regulations, including import and export controls, trade sanctions, and customs procedures;
- Strong understanding of trade compliance software and systems;
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and implement effective compliance strategies;
- Outstanding attention to detail and communication skills;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Professional certifications in trade compliance, such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES), are highly valued.
What We Offer:
We offer a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
