Mental Health Specialist

McLean Hospital is a leading psychiatric hospital committed to providing high-quality mental health services in the Boston area and beyond. As a Mental Health Tech, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care and participate in therapeutic milieu.
Key Responsibilities:- Accurately and timely document patient information, progress notes, and observation sheets.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, adhering to professional boundaries.
- Participate in patient rounds and teams to ensure comprehensive care.
- Complete patient care assignments and identify patient behaviors contributing to crisis situations.
- Utilize non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations and intervene in managing complex patient situations.
- Communicate changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse and follow established Standards of Care and protocols.
- Remain awake and alert at all times while on the job and perform Point of Care testing (POC) as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe and organized patient and staff environment.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prefer two years of college plus one year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
- Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Previous experience in direct patient care preferred.
