The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer in Growth to join our team. As a key member of our growth engineering team, you'll be responsible for expanding our new user funnel across buyers and sellers to accelerate the rapid growth of our marketplace.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop opportunities to grow traffic across multiple channels while creating delightful new user experiences to activate and retain buyers and sellers for the long term.
  • Build out our core Incentivized buyer growth strategy, including gamified incentives and offer experiences to continue to accelerate Whatnot's rapid growth.
  • Lead other engineers to design and implement our core incentive management system from the ground up.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a talented engineer with 5+ years of software development experience, plus:

  • Experience building E-commerce products.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience building scalable systems (we primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript).
  • Experience leading engineers to deliver significant business impact.
  • Proven track record of delivering features. You are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast.
  • Excellent cross-functional team communications.
  • Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution.
  • Self-motivated, relentlessly focused on impact, and able to operate under great deal of independence.
  • Excellent problem solver and don't need to be told exactly what to do.
  • Good communication skills in both written and verbal English.
